Counselling
We all have times when we are experiencing discomfort in our lives. These
experiences can be related to relationships, bereavement, choices to be
made, work and many other stress factors.
The construction of ones story and the putting of it into words that takes
place during counselling enable a perspective - literally a mental distance
from ones emotions and problems.
A counsellor, unlike a friend, doesn't give advice. It is up to each person
to know what is good for themselves.
The exploration and support within counselling allows an understanding
of difficulties which empowers finding a way of dealing with the difficulties,
giving opportunities to a more satisfactory, resourceful life.
For me, counselling doesn't need to be for immediate difficulties, I believe
it can re-enforce a mentally healthy mind.
As a trainee counsellor and a member of the BACP (British Association
for Counselling and Psychotherapy) I am bound by its Ethical Framework
for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I work within a contractual
arrangement, providing privacy, a safe non-judgemental environment and
total confidentiality.
My main aims are to tailor-make a therapy that is appropriate for each
individual's need using an integrative approach and to help individuals
from feeling a victim of circumstances to feeling there is some control
over their lives.
There is no right way; there is only your way.
